Whilst fitting the Rocky Road 2.125" Suspension Lift, it was clear the road-biased existing tyres wouldn't look right... so after some hunting I found it impossible to get an exact tyre size match in anything offroad-ey looking, so I had to go up a slight size to find a tyre that would fit...
In the end I sourced some Pirelli Scorpion AT XL tyres in a 235/65/R17 size, the original GV ones being 225/65/R17, so not much of a difference really-

It's 10mm wider across the tread/tyre - i.e. 235mm instead of 225mm, and a half inch (13mm) bigger in diameter, which also adds about an inch and a half in circumference, which means the speedo will be every-so-slightly out, 1.8% too slow according to the tyre calculator, so 1mph out at 60mph... I can live with that. I wouldn't bother on my normal offroader, that has 31" tyres at the moment, so well oversized, and undergeared, but that one's for playing in the mud! This one's my daily driver and one I regularly use to ferry my family around, so it has to be safe and as accurate as possible to avoid gearing issues, and speeding fines! LOL
So, on the day I get the lift done, I also just had time to get the spare on for a look... the garage are going to do the four tyres on the existing rims the day after the lift installation...
So here's the spare against the existing road tyre for now... more pictures at the end of this by the time you read this...
And there's the difference in the tread pattern and depth! :D
I was surprised when I took the spare wheel cover off to find a temporary "get you home" tyre...?
See, "TEMPORARY USE ONLY" max 80mph, and a very masic tread pattern/depth... what's the point of that? Penny-pinching?
Anyway, I'd managed to pick up a matching spare alloy on eBay, so I took the spare wheel cover off completely so I can have the spare on display!
Just fits, I thought I might have to use one of my (Bits4Vits) spare wheel spacers on it, but it fits ok without one...
So, there's the spare on for now, the other 4 wheels are having new tyres "tomorrow", or the day after the lift install when you read this! ;)
Will have to do something with those trailer sockets too! Bit low!
It's persisting it down with rain today, so here's a temporary picture of the GV with the new tyres (and lift) on...
