After fitting the Pirelli tyres, I half wished I'd gone for a slightly wide size, but with width normally comes height, and I don't want to affect my gearing, ABS (?!), etc, as this is my daily driver - as the title suggests! - so I thought I'd fit some wheel spacers instead.

Luckily for me, I run a company that sells Suzuki Bits - www.Bits4Vits.com - so I rang one of my suppliers, Eibach UK (trade only before you try and ring them!) and ordered a set of 15mm a side (30mm on track, then) wheel spacers -

These aren't cheap, but they are probably the best you can get, and quality always costs more! These are TUV (German safety test) approved, and are beautifully made...

...the only thing that worried me was -

That the mounting nuts appeared to sit protruding out of the wheel spacer! So I rang Eibach to query it, and they explained that the wheel will have recesses on the back, to take the protruding nuts... slightly embarrassed I thanked them and went outside to continue fitting them ...

Ah, now I see what they meant, d'oh! ;)

You can see where they were on the hubs by the rust! :o

The spacer bolted in place.

Note how the spacer is machined to fit exactly over the original mounting lip - see "rusty" picture above - and also replicates it on the outer edge of the spacer, quality! ;)

With the wheel bolted back on, you can just see the spacer behind...

And there's the front one mounted on as well...

It's a bit hard to tighten the fronts up, so I used a block of wood and a metal tube to keep the brake pedal depressed! LOL ;)

Before and after shots!

And a comparison of left and right during the fit... i.e. right done, left yet to be done! ;)

After finishing both sides, I started the car up in Neutral and locked the steering from left to right to make sure there was enough clearance for the tyres to move safely in their new offset position... remembering these are "only" 235/65/17s, so they are not that wide, you'd obviously have to check the clearance on your own GV before fitting wheel spacers, especially if you are running wider tyres...

And the finished look, nicely filling the arches...

These are 15mm spacers, that give 30mm extra width to the track of the vehicle, always a good thing to increase the track when lifting a vehicle...! It should make the turning circle slightly better too? But most of all, it looks better with the tyres filling the arches! ;)

These are also available in 10mm a side (i.e. 20mm extra track), 20mm a side (i.e. 40mm extra track) and 25mm a side (i.e. 50mm extra track), but I chose the middle-of-the-road ones, as I said, this is my daily driver! ;)

I'll be selling these in the Bits4Vits Shop...

Or contact me at "dave @ Bits4Vits.com" if I haven't got any listed and you want a set ;)
